Privacy Policy

ProEnglish Publishing publishes English for Tax Professionals and operates this site. We publish pages in eight languages and welcome readers across Europe, Asia and the Americas, so we apply the standard set by the EU General Data Protection Regulation to everyone, rather than varying our behaviour by country. Readers elsewhere may have equivalent rights under their own national law.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is ProEnglish Publishing, established in the United States. For anything concerning your personal data, write to info [at] taxproenglish [dot] com.
2. What we process, and why

We do not process special category data, we do not profile you in a way that produces legal effects, we make no automated decisions about you, and we do not sell your data.
3. Where our links take you
Two pages on this site exist only to forward you somewhere else. Once you arrive, that destination's own privacy policy governs what happens to your data, not ours:
- Buying the book sends you to Amazon. Any purchase, payment and delivery data is handled by Amazon. We never see your payment details.
- The free chapter sends you to a landing page hosted by Mailchimp, where you may choose to give an email address to receive the download. That list is held in Mailchimp under our account, and we use it only to send the chapter and occasional news about the book. Every message carries an unsubscribe link.
4. How long we keep it
- Enquiry form messages: up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless the enquiry becomes a commercial relationship, in which case the applicable accounting and tax retention periods take over.
- Analytics data: according to Google's retention settings for the property, and in any case only until you withdraw consent.
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
- Your cookie choice: 6 months, after which we ask again.
5. Who we share it with
We use only providers acting as processors on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — site hosting, delivery and protection, and relaying enquiry form messages to our inbox.
- Google — analytics, only if you allow it.
- Mailchimp — the free chapter mailing list.
6. International transfers
We are established in the United States, and Cloudflare, Google and Mailchimp all process data on servers there. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, that means your data is transferred outside your own jurisdiction. Those transfers rely on the safeguards those providers offer, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses where applicable. Write to the address in section 1 if you would like details of the safeguards that apply.
7. Your rights
You have the following rights over your personal data:
- Access — to know what data we hold about you and how we use it.
- Rectification — to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Erasure — to have your data deleted where that applies.
- Restriction — to have processing limited while a question is resolved.
- Objection — to object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Portability — to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
To exercise them, write to info [at] taxproenglish [dot] com saying which right you want to exercise. This is free of charge, and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with our response, readers in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom may complain to their local data protection supervisory authority. Readers elsewhere may have an equivalent authority under their own national law.

Every cookie we use is listed in our Cookie Policy. Nothing non-essential is set before you allow it, and you can change your choice whenever you like:

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit over HTTPS and restricted access to the mailbox that receives enquiry messages. If a breach occurs that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify the relevant authority and, where required, you, without undue delay.
10. Children
This site is aimed at adult professionals, language schools and companies. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially we will update the date above, and where the change affects the purposes you allowed, we will ask for your consent again through the cookie notice.
